PRESENTATION OF ELOQUENCE IN STONE TO H.E. THE PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA - The Nation, 8th March 2009

The presentation of ‘Eloquence in Stone’ to the President

A copy of Eloquence in Stone – The Lithic Saga of Sri Lanka was presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by Anu Weerasuriya and Christopher Silva, who worked together with their mentor Nihal Fernando and the Studio Times photography team to produce this book. The text was written by SinhaRaja Tammita-Delgoda. Words and images come together in this epic production to recount the tale of one of the oldest living cultures in the world – of a people who still speak the same language, practice the same religion and follow the same customs, as their ancestors did more than 2,000 years ago. The book is the vision of Nihal Fernando, who says: “This is the dream I have had for the last 15 years. I want to tell the story of this country and its people. I want to make people think of our past and what we are doing to it, before it is too late.”
